Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will be launched on March 11 in 60 countries
Officially announced yesterday by Samsung, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will be released on March 11, with pre-orders starting tomorrow, February 23. Like the S6 series before them, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will be available from day one in many markets around the world. How many exactly? According to Korean publication Yonhap News, Samsung Mobile Communications chief DJ Koh confirmed that March 11 is the day when the new smartphones will be launched in 60 countries (including, of course, in the US, where all major carriers are getting ready to release the two handsets).
Reportedly, DJ Koh also said that, compared to the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S7 sales should be higher. First month sales will be crucial, that's why Samsung is throwing in a free Gear VR headset to those who pre-order or buy an S7 between February 23 and March 18.
It's been estimated that Samsung shipped about 38 million Galaxy S6 smartphones in 2015 (considerably less than initially planned). If everything goes well for Samsung, the company may very well ship over 40 million Galaxy S7 units by the end of this year. But we'll see about that.

The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are not just more powerful than the S6 and S6 edge. They also offer various new important features - including dust- and water-resistance, microSD card support, an always-on display, and liquid cooling technology.
