Rumor: Microsoft Lumia 650 to be the last 5-inch Lumia model
According to a tweet sent out by tipster @sleaknow, the rumored Microsoft Lumia 650 (code named Saana) could be the last 5-incher to carry the Lumia name. The tweet adds that the phone features the same metal edge as the Microsoft Lumia 640. Since the latter does not sport a metal edge, we suggest taking the tweet with the proverbial grain of salt. Last month, the software giant unveiled two high-end phones in the Microsoft Lumia 950 and Microsoft Lumia 950 XL. It also introduced the Microsoft Lumia 550, a low-end device.

That leaves an opening for a mid-range handset, one that might be filled with the Lumia 650. So far, no specs have been linked to the device except for the 5-inch screen that the tweet tells us about. Assuming that the Lumia 650 is real, and is a sequel to the Lumia 640, it might be of some importance to refresh your memory about the latter model.

The Lumia 640 features a 5-inch screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280. The Snapdragon 400 SoC is under the hood, with a quad-core 1.2GHz CPU, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable native storage inside. The camera combo from back to front weighs in at 8MP/.9MP. The Lumia 650 could bring in a more powerful chipset, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of native storage. Both cameras will most likely be upgraded. There is no word when we might see the Lumia 650 become official, if indeed it does exist. If it does, you can expect Windows 10 Mobile to be pre-installed.

Reading between the lines, the tweet could be telling us that the rumored Surface Phone will feature a 5-inch display. Previous speculation had the Surface Phone carrying a 5.5-inch AMOLED display.

Thanks for the tip!
