Report: Apple replaces Xiaomi as the leading smartphone producer in China
Research firm Canalys released a report today stating that the popularity of the Apple iPhone 6 and the Apple iPhone 6 Plus in China, has made Apple the top smartphone manufacturer in the country. By increasing the size of the screen, and adding a phablet to its line-up, Apple has been able to go after Chinese Android manufacturers who produce large-screened Android handsets. The iPhone 6 is equipped with a 4.7-inch screen while the iPhone 6 Plus carries a 5.5-inch screen.

Riding the large-screen and 4G LTE trend in the country, Apple now is the top smartphone producer based on the number of units shipped, followed by Xiaomi, Samsung and Huawei. What makes this an amazing achievement is that the price Apple charges for its phones is extremely high when compared to companies like Xiaomi.

Samsung, which had been on top of the Chinese smartphone charts, relinquished that spot to Xiaomi during last year's second quarter. The company is now struggling as Apple gains momentum. But Xiaomi is going to be a tough competitor for Apple in future quarters.. The company recently conducted a successful flash sale of its new Xiaomi Mi Note. And the drool-worthy Xiaomi Mi Note Pro offers a 5.7-inch screen with 1440 x 2560 resolution, a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 810 CPU and 4GB of RAM.
