The Huawei Mate 9 is now one of the featured handsets on Rumor Row. This is the small area of the world where rumors are born and leaks are discovered. Certain handsets occupy this territory for a brief period of time, and then move on. Recently, the Xiaomi Mi 5s and Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus were found on Rumor Row.

Just the other day, renders of the Mate 9 were discovered along with rumors about three different variants of the phone. Today, an image of the rear chassis of the device was published. While the source of the tip swears that this is the back of a Mate 9 with a dual-camera set up, it looks just like the rear chassis of the honor 6X based on the photos that accompany the latter's TENAA certification. If legit, the image confirms that the Mate 9 will carry a rear mounted fingerprint scanner.

The Huawei Mate 9 is expected to be powered by a home grown Kirin 960 chipset with an octa-core CPU. Three models are available, one with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of flash memory ($480 USD), one with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of flash memory ($510 USD) and one with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage ($585 USD).
