Out of stock Microsoft Band could return Saturday to Microsoft's physical stores
Since late November, the Microsoft Band has been impossible to find. Microsoft's wearable fitness band has been a huge success, although there have been questions about how many units have actually been sold. Detractors say that the software giant produced a small number of bands, perhaps as few as 5000 units, making it easy to sell out. For its part, Microsoft says that it has sold more bands than that, but refuses to give a precise figure.
The Microsoft Band works with Windows Phone 8.1, Android (version 4.3 or newer), and iOS (7.1 and 8). With Windows Phone, the band integrates with personal assistant Cortana. The wearable features an optical heart rate monitor, accelerometer, GPS, and a sensor that monitors skin temperature. In addition, the Microsoft Band offers some of the same capabilities seen on smartwaches. Two 100mAh batteries allow the device to run for 48 hours before needing a recharge.

A leaked internal memo indicates that the Microsoft Band will return to brick and mortar Microsoft Stores on Saturday, January 3rd. The memo adds that consumers in Microsoft's database will receive an email, alerting them that the device will be back in stock this weekend. The stores will receive additional inventory of the wearable on Friday.
