A leaked promotional image for the Oppo R9 and Oppo R9 Plus reveals pricing for the two new models, both of which should be unveiled on St. Patrick's Day, March 17th. Naturally, you start thinking about green on that day, and green is the color of money. It all comes together. The Oppo R9 will be sold for the equivalent of $383 USD. The 64GB version of the Oppo R9 Plus will cost you $460 USD, while the 128GB model is tagged at $506 USD.
Earlier rumors about the phone's specs called for a 6-inch screen, a 1440 x 2560 QHD resolution, the Snapdragon 820 chipset and a 21MP rear camera. Even if one were to say that those specs sound more in line with the Oppo R9 Plus, they are still much different than what we are hearing about either model today.
The latest rumors say that the Oppo R9 will feature a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen, powered by the MediaTek Helio X10 chipset carrying an octa-core CPU. 4GB of RAM is inside, along with 64GB of native storage. A 13MP rear camera is included, and the 4MP front-facing camera can snap 16MP photos using a special technology.
A 6-inch AMOLED panel will adorn the Oppo R9 Plus. Driving the phone will be the Snapdragon 652 SoC. 4GB of RAM is inside along with 64GB or 128GB of native storage. The rear camera will weigh in at 16MP, while the same 4MP front-facing camera seen on the R9 will handle selfies and video chats.
Both models will come with the VOOC fast charge feature, and we should point out that these units are the sequels to 2015's Oppo R7 and Oppo R7 Plus, both of which were offered in the U.S. And that means we could see these two new models also made available in the states via Oppo's website.
