Oppo R handset appears with the octa-core Snapdragon 615 under the hood
Out of China today comes word of a new Oppo handset, powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 615. The Oppo R is a metal-framed device that resembles the previously introduced Oppo R1C. The new "R-series" handset has a svelte design and supports the use of dual SIM slots with 4G LTE connectivity.
The Oppo R features a 5-inch display with resolution of 1080 x 1920. That works out to a pixel density of 441ppi. Under the hood you will find the 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 615 CPU with 2GB of RAM inside. No information was leaked about the amount of native storage on board, but we do expect there to be a microSD slot available to expand the amount of memory inside the handset. The rear-facing camera will weigh in at 13MP and will most likely contain a sensor manufactured by Sony.
There is no word yet on pricing or availability of the phone. Also unknown is whether the Oppo R will be offered outside of Asia.
Thanks for the tip!
