Nokia's new Car App lets you open your apps more easily and safely while driving
Nokia's new Car App is designed to allow you to easily open certain apps on your Lumia handset, while driving. This way, you don't have to search through menus and try to read the screen when you should be concentrating on the road in front of you. On the app itself, Nokia warns users that their first consideration should be safety, and that a driver should pull over if he really needs to use the phone. With that in mind, the app allows users to select three apps they need while driving, and creates a big, easy to read shortcut for all three. The trio that is listed by default are HERE Drive, Nokia Mix Radio and Quick Call.
The app also shows other information that could play a role in your driving, such as the weather. And the battery life on the phone is prominently displayed. The app's listing shows that it works with Windows Phone 8 and the upcoming Windows Phone 8.1. Originally, the app was built into Nokia's hardware, and required an NFC pairing with the CR-200 wireless charging car unit. But with the listing of this app, that is no longer necessary.
