No Nexus? New launcher brings Android N's slide screen to any handset
If you are waiting with bated breath for Google to flesh out the Android 7.0 "N" update more at its I/O conference next month, but don't have a Nexus phone or tablet to install the N preview on, the new N Launcher may be the next best thing.
It is free to install from the Play Store, and comes off resembling the official preview as much as it could, and not only in visuals. It sports Android N's slide screen, letting you whisk left from the home screen or app drawer to evoke a bunch of quick access shortcuts, toggles or options. Customizing this slide screen, however, will cost you in the paid Prime version.
In addition, with the N Launcher you get a missed call, texts, or email count, double-tap to turn off the display, folder customizations, and other bells and whistles worthy of a decent launcher. It's just that in the end your phone will feel like it's running Android N, for neat.
