New images of HTC Desire 8 and HTC D310w show up
HTC China posted new images which are showing the upcoming Desire 8 smartphone (codenamed A5), revealing that the device should be officially announced on February 24. That’s also the day when Mobile World Congress 2014 starts, so the handset might make an appearance at the show in Barcelona next week.
We previously saw a white version of the Desire 8, and now HTC unveiled a dark purple model. Up to five other color versions might be available later this year, including black, red, yellow, orange and cyan.
Like the HTC M8 / All New One, which will be announced on March 25, the Desire 8 seems to run Android 4.4 KitKat with Sense 6.0 UI. It is quite a large handset, sporting a 5.5-inch 720p display. Other features reportedly include a 13MP rear camera, 5MP front-facing camera, quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 1.5GB of RAM, and 8GB of expandable internal memory. It’s said that AT&T and Sprint could launch the Desire 8 in the US at some point.
Another new HTC smartphone that’s been pictured today is the HTC D310w. As we assumed in January, the D310w is a modest handset. It runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, offering a 4.5-inch display with 480 x 854 pixels, quad-core 1.3GHz processor (probably made by MediaTek), a measly 512MB of RAM, VGA front-facing camera, and a 5MP rear camera.
HTC might launch the D310w in China soon, and it will probably included this one in its Desire series, too.
