New Huawei Ascend P7 "Sophia" to run Android 4.4.2 KitKat at launch

Huawei did a pretty good job with the Ascend P6, and it will probably try to replicate the P6’s success with the Ascend P7. Sure enough, the Chinese company didn’t confirm the existence of P7 yet, but rumors about this upcoming handset - codenamed Sophia - have been around since last year.

A leaked screenshot that recently surfaced in China shows that the Ascend P7 Sophia runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Huawei’s Emotion UI 2.3. Thus, this could be Huawei’s first smartphone to come with KitKat out of the box.

Previous rumors had it that the Ascend P7 would feature a 5-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixels, LTE Cat 4, 13MP rear camera with LED flash, an impressive 8MP front-facing camera, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, MicroSD card support, and a 2,460 mAh battery. The smartphone should use a 1.6GHz quad-core Huawei HiSilicon 910 processor (just like the recently spotted MediaPad X1 tablet).

It’s said that the Ascend P7 is made out of “exquisite materials”, largely resembling the P6. There’s no word on when the new P7 is going to be announced, but we assume it won’t be long until it happens. Maybe at MWC 2014 later this month?
