Netflix brings updated tablet UI to the iPad
To prepare for the Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet releases, Netflix set about to completely overhaul their tablet app to create a better experience for customers. Those changes quickly made their way onto other Android tablets, which isn’t a surprise since the Fire and Nook are Android-based systems. When the Android version went live Netflix announced that the new tablet experience should be available in the Apple App Store in “a couple weeks”.
Lo and behold, those few weeks have passed and iPad users can now update their Netflix app to get a user experience custom tailored for their iOS flavored tablet. Netflix is quite proud of the new tablet UI, touting it as more immersive for the user while allowing for a greater focus on their growing catalog of streaming movies.
The new attention to tablets reflects their growing important as movie consumption devices. According to Netflix there has been a three-fold increase in the amount of time that tablet owners spend watching movies over the previous year.
