Today, Lenovo and its subsidiary Motorola Mobility announced the Moto Z and Moto Z Force - two brand new smartphones that come to replace the Moto X and Moto Droid series of recent years.
Both new handsets will be released starting September around the world, including in the US - where Verizon is getting exclusive, renamed variants of them (Moto Z Droid Edition, and Moto Z Force Droid Edition), though you'll also be able to buy the Moto Z unlocked.
Unlike the Moto Z Force, which packs a very generous 3500 mAh battery, the Moto Z only has a 2600 mAh battery - that's the price to pay for being just 5.19 mm thin. Interestingly, reading the fine print regarding the battery life of Moto Z, we discovered something a bit unusual: the handset's battery is supposed to last up to 30 hours "in U.S., Canada and Europe", and only up to 24 hours in the rest of the world. There's also a difference when it comes to the phone's TurboPower charger, which, in 15 minutes, can provide 8 hours of power in the US, Canada, and Europe, but only 7 hours of power in the rest of the world.
We're not sure why the rest of the world gets a weaker battery - as far as we know, all Moto Z units, regardless of market, include 2600 mAh batteries. But maybe Motorola will soon clarify this. Until then, to find out more about the two new Lenovorola smartphones, you should check out our Moto Z hands-on, and our Moto Z Force hands-on.
