Microsoft will announce new Windows 10 devices at IFA 2015, but the word "smartphone" is strangely missing
It looks like the annual IFA conference in Berlin will become a launchpad for the first Windows 10 devices announced by Microsoft. The company announced via a press release that Nick Parker, VP of MS's OEM (original equipment manufacturer) division, will hold a keynote titled "Windows 10 Lights up New Devices" where we naturally expect to get new W10 device announcements!
So, does this mean we'll catch a first glimpse of the new Lumia phones that are inevitably looming on the horizon? There's a good chance we will, but Mr. Parker isn't affiliated with Microsoft's smartphone division, so we don't expect new phones with 100% certainty. He doesn't handle Surface tablets either, so announcements on that part aren't guaranteed either. But seeing that device convergence plays such a big role in Windows 10, we're not keen on thinking all Microsoft has to show off at IFA is a bunch of laptops.
The MS keynote is scheduled for September 4, 3PM CET. We will be there to hear what Nick Parker has to say in person, and hopefully, the rumored Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL handsets will be part of the program.

And besides, the press release clearly mentions "a breadth of new Windows 10 devices, including tablets, 2-in-1s, premium notebooks, gaming devices and all-in-ones" will be getting stage time. Only Microsoft and its partners know what's inside their collective bag of technological surprises.
