Microsoft Lumia 640 now available in the US via Cricket
Cricket Wireless today became the first mobile carrier to sell the Microsoft Lumia 640 in the US. Announced back in March, at the same time with the Lumia 640 XL, the 640 is a mid-range Windows Phone handset that sports a 5-inch 720p display.
Cricket is asking $129.99 for the Lumia 640, no contract required. It looks like only the cyan version of the phone is available to buy, at least for now. If you get the handset before June 30, Microsoft will offer you a 1-year Office 365 Personal bundle for free (normally $69.99).
The Lumia 640 is powered by a quad-core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, which is complemented by 1 GB of RAM. It's got an 8 MP rear camera with LED flash, and a 0.9 MP camera on the front. Other features include LTE connectivity, HERE Maps & Drive, Cortana, 8 GB of expandable storage space, and a 2500 mAh battery.
Currently running Windows Phone 8.1, the Lumia 640 will be among the first handsets to be officially updated to Windows 10 (probably sometime this summer). In the near future, the smartphone will also be released by AT&T, T-Mobile, and MetroPCS. Interested?
