MetroPCS names NBA's Deron Williams its official spokesperson
After shooting a couple of commercials with Snoop Dogg to rev up its street cred, MetroPCS now names the biggest star in New Jersey Nets' lineup, Deron Williams, as its new spokesperson.
Now you might wonder why MetroPCS picked Williams exactly and the official press release gives us little detail about that except for the fact that the point guard is from Dallas, the hometown of the carrier. It does mention, though, that MetroPCS is the only carrier offering no contract 4G LTE services and wants to raise awareness about its Samsung Android phones supporting the network.
"Deron Williams is highly regarded as one of the top point guards in the world, and dedication on and off the court have been a source of admiration for his teammates, coaches and fans throughout his professional basketball career," said Tom Keys, president and COO of MetroPCS. "We couldn't be more excited to bring on a spokesperson that shares our commitment for superior performance as we continually strive to move our customers forward with innovative devices and services at an incredible value."
Of course, Williams will help mostly by selling his face in ads and promotions. He’ll also aid in the carrier’s initiative to connect basketball fans with their role models in 2012.
