Meizu Pro 5 won't be loaded with Flyme 5 UI out of the box
Meizu is expected to hold a media event on September 23rd. At that time, the manufacturer should unveil its new high-end Meizu Pro 5 handset. At the same event, Meizu's new Flyme 5 UI will probably be introduced. Now, you would think that the newest top-shelf phone from Meizu would certainly come with the newest version of Flyme right out of the box. Sadly, this is not the story.

Meizu is concerned that Flyme 5 is not yet stable and in sync with the new phone, so when the Pro 5 is unpacked by buyers and turned on, it will be running Flyme 4.5 on top of Android 5.1.1. Keep in mind that this information comes from the Weibo site belonging to Flyme chief designer Yang Yan. Flyme 5 will first be available on the Meizu MX5 and will be pushed out to other models, like the Pro 5, via a software update.

The latest rumored specs for the Meizu Pro 5 include a 5.8-inch screen, carrying a resolution of 1080 x 1920. That works out to a 380ppi pixel density. Reportedly, there are two versions of the handset with one powered by the Exynos 7420 SoC, and the other featuring the MediaTek MT6797 chipset that includes a deca-core CPU. 4GB of RAM is inside, along with 64GB of internal memory. A 20MP camera adorns the back of the unit, with a 5MP snapper found in front.

Company executives have been pretty open with their Weibo accounts, discussing information related to the new handset. We wouldn't be surprised to see some more leaks between now and next Wednesday's event. Feel free to check in early and often!
