MWC 2013 Day 0: round-up
And just like that, we’re getting close to wrapping up our first day at Mobile World Congress 2013 in beautiful Barcelona. We expect things to really heat up tomorrow with events from Nokia, Asus and ZTE with all eyes on Nokia of course. The Finnish company is expected to bring its newest Nokia EOS, a Windows Phone smartphone with a new PureView camera.

But let’s first recap what we saw today as there were plenty of things worth your attention - some more and some less. We cannot say we were surprised by any of the unveilings as leaks spoiled that fun well in advance, but some details we never knew were now illuminated.

First, with a big splash came the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0, an 8-inch tablet and a direct competitor to the iPad mini.

Next, Huawei introduced its Ascend P2, a smartphone with a relatively affordable price, a slim body and big battery. Too bad it will only launch in June!

Next, Mozilla finally showed us a glimpse at the HTML5-based future with its Firefox OS. Well, it still has to fight an uphill battle against Android and iOS, but it might well come to replace feature phones as we know them.

Also, one slight surprise came from Alcatel with its 1080p 5-inch monster phone, the One Touch Idol X. Take a look at all those and more right below.
