LG announces new wireless earbuds and wearable surround speakers
LG announced a pair of new wireless wearable audio products scheduled to make their debut at CES® 2017. The products in question are the TONE Studio wearable speakers (touted as capable of 3D surround sound) and TONE Free earphones – wireless earbuds that charge when docked in the companion neckband.
The peculiar LG TONE Studio features two full range speakers on the top and two vibrating speakers on the bottom. Combined, they deliver a surround sound experience when watching a movie, playing a video game, or streaming music. They have been designed together with the surround sound experts at DTS and feature a Hi-Fi DAC (Digital to Analog Converter) that recreates audio as accurately as possible. In addition, the Dual Play functionality lets one connect two LG TONE Studio wearable speakers and share the audio from a movie or playlist.
Together with the TONE Studio and TONE Free, LG will also showcase the TONE Infinim and TONE Ultra at CES 2017. The former features LG’s Metal Layer Speaker Technology for cleaner and crisper sounds, while the latter has been developed in collaboration with JBL and features dual MEMS microphones for improved call clarity. Add the recently announced wirelessly charging levitating speaker to the line-up, and it seems that LG certainly has what it takes to impress music listeners next year.
The TONE Free is a pair of wireless earbuds that charge whenever they are stored inside the neckband. Apart from providing extra battery power and vibration alerts for incoming calls and text messages, the neckband is also a secure place for storing the earbuds when they aren't in your ears. There's an optional charging cradle to provide power when the neckband might not be as convenient. To drive home the advantages of wireless connectivity, the TONE Free can be used entirely hands free for answering or ignoring calls with voice commands.
