LG K8 is now official: an entry-level 5-inch device with Marshmallow on board

Earlier today, LG lifted the veil off the Stylus 2, an "exceptionally-priced" Marshmallow handset, but to think that the South Korea-based phone maker is done with smartphone releases for the day will be a big mistake. Apart from the second generation of the G Stylo, LG quietly announced a new member of its relatively new K series, the LG K8 (K350N). The phone joins the ranks of the low-cost K4, K7, and K10 handsets that were shown at CES in January.

Design-wise, it is clear to see that the LG K8 has adopted the looks of LG's K series. It comes with LG's signature rear-positioned power and volume buttons, while the undoubtedly plastic back cover is employing a subtle pattern. As far as the K8's dimensions are concerned, we are looking at a phone that stands at 144.6 by 71.5 by 8.7mm and tips the scales at 157gr.

So, what makes the LG K8 click and tick? Here's its specs sheet at a glance:

  • 5" IPS display, 720p resolution
  • MediaTek MT6735, a quad-core 64-bit chipset
  • 1.5GB of RAM
  • 8GB of on-board storage, microSD card slot (up to 32GB microSD cards supported)
  • 8MP rear camera with LED flash
  • 5MP front-facing camera
  • 2,125mAh Li-Ion battery
  • LTE connectivity
  • Android 6.0 Marshmallow, LG UI atop

Availability and pricing are bit of mystery right now, though the handset got spotted at LG's Hungarian website, which is a dead giveaway that the K8 will most certainly be available across select European countries. Still, provided that T-Mobile launched the LG K7 just days ago, there's a chance that the K8 might follow suit.

LG's newest device will be on display at MWC in a few days' time - hopefully, LG will reveal more info then.
