Humor: The real plan behind the Apple Watch
It’s weird how humor can reflect ideas that in some ways, do not seem so far-fetched. Take the classic sci-fi movie, Blade Runner. Set in a future where androids serve in a variety of capacities throughout society, “replicants” are the product of the fictional Tyrell Corporation, “more human than human” being the motto.
Take that same setting, the sun rises, barely piercing into a dark hall where big ideas are being discussed. Except, instead of it being Los Angeles in the future, it is Cupertino in the past. Tim Cook is hatching an idea for the “most personal product” Apple has ever produced.
We’re heard it before, technology as a way to touch our most personal thoughts and feelings. Indeed, it’s not about attracting more customers, it’s about making them. Sound sort of creepy? Maybe, but does it sound completely off-the-wall? With the Apple Watch’s clever ways to “touch” those we care about through a gadget on our wrist, be it a heartbeat or doodle, it could spark a new phenomenon, Apple Watch Baby Boom…or not.
