Huawei P9 Lite is completely outed via TENAA certification
Prior to the announcement of Huawei's P9 and P9 Plus, it was believed that a third model -- known as the P9 Lite -- would be in the offing. As with last year's P8 Lite, the device is expected to be a scaled-down version of the flagship models, though according to the info gathered before now, won't be quite as lightweight as its moniker perhaps implies. While the Chinese firm has still yet to officially take the wraps off the handset, TENAA's recent certification of the P9 Lite is the next best thing.
The first thing to note is that the P9 Lite doesn't arrive with the rear-facing dual-camera setupco-engineered'certified' by Leica. Instead, it gets a sole 13-megapixel shooter on the back accompanied by an 8-megapixel offering above the display for selfies. The screen is a full-HD effort, boasting a respectable 1080 x 1920 resolution over a 5.2-inch canvas, and there's a 2900 mAh non-removable battery to keep everything ticking over. Elsewhere, there's a 2 GHz octa-core processor allied to 3 gigs of RAM.
The metal-clad device includes a fingerprint sensor to the rear just below the main camera, and will arrive in Black, White an Gold color options upon its eventual release. Software-wise, the Huawei P9 Lite will include the firm's own Emotion UI baked into Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
There's still no word on pricing as yet, though the P9 Lite has been floating around European web stores for a pre-order cost equivalent to around $306. We expect the device to reach consumers at some point next month, once Huawei has finally treated it to an official announcement.
