Huawei took to the stage today, and announced its true flagship for the season, the unique 5.5" FHD Mate S phablet. We say unique, as it will have a version with Force Touch display technology that can distinguish between light tap or a more forceful press in places like the gallery, the camera app (for zooming), and many more. It is also pretty well equipped, with a 13 MP OIS camera, 8 MP selfie shooter with front LED flash, and stereo speakers. The fly in all that honey is that it won't be cheap.
The Mate S will be available in more than 30 countries starting September 15, including China, France, Germany, Israel, Japan, Spain, South Africa and UAE. It will be up on pre-order in Europe on Vmall.eu starting Tuesday, with the 32GB version in titanium grey or mystique champagne at 649 euros, while the version with 64GB of ROM will come in "prestige" gold or coral pink, with a 699 euros tag.
There will be additional pricing schemes announced for the upcoming 128 GB Force Touch version, which will be available in select markets at a later date. What do you think, has Huawei gone overboard with pricing, or does the Mate S deserve every penny you might want to drop on it.
