Recently, we've been hearing reports about a new Huawei handset dubbed the Mulan. Before you Disney fans rush out to buy a device with the same name as one of the entertainment company's beloved characters, we should tell you that the actual name of the phone will be the Huawei Honor 6. A teaser distributed by the manufacturer revealed the new name of the phone, and also gave away some information about when the handset will be officially unveiled.
According to the teaser, the Huawei Honor 6 will be officially introduced on June 24th 2014. And the event will take place at Beijing National Stadium, which is also known as the Bird Nest. Reports from China indicate that the flagship device is being called the Honor 6, in order to match up with two other flagship phones that don't exist at the moment. Those two models are the Apple iPhone 6, expected to be released in September, and the Samsung Galaxy S6.The latter won't see the light of day until Q2 of 2015.
Based on a recent visit to the AnTuTu benchmark site, we expect the Huawei Honor 6 to offer a 5 inch screen with resolution of 1080 x 1920. Under the hood is the Hisilicon Kirin 920 octa-core processor. This uses the big.LITTLE architecture, which means that one set of four cores is in use at one time. One set is for heavy lifting, while the other takes care of light housekeeping. The phone features 3GB of RAM and 16GB of native storage, with a 13MP rear snapper. Android 4.4.2 is pre-installed.
Hopefully, on June 24th we will get more information about pricing and availability of Huawei's new flagship.
