Honor 8 starts getting Android 7.0 Nougat update

Huawei Japan confirmed last week that Honor 8 will start getting Android 7.0 Nougat on January 16, but the announcement only applied to the unlocked units in Japan.

Less than a week after the official release date in Japan, we've received reports that Android 7.0 Nougat is pushed to Honor 8 in other countries as well.

As expected, the update includes EMUI 5.0, which made its debut along with the Huawei Mate 9. Keep in mind though that this is seems to be a fairly sizable update. One of the screenshots we received mentions the update file weighs around 2.27GB in size.

It's worth noting that the same Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Japanese Honor 8 has been confirmed to weigh in at 1.97GB, so there might be more stuff included in the international update.

We don't have a full changelog yet, but Huawei Japan mentioned that aside from the usual Android 7.0 Nougat changes, the update contains some system optimizations, stability improvements and better app versatility.

Since this is an incremental rollout, it will probably take a few weeks to propagate to all Honor 8 devices across the globe. If you've haven't yet received the Android 7.0 Nougat update, it's probably time to check your phone.

Thanks, Danidin!
