HTC looking to create its own app store?
According to the Financial Times, HTC is looking to create its own app store in order to differentiate itself from its rival manufacturers. Citing two people "with knowledge of the situation", the Taiwan-based smartphone manufacturer is said to be hiring staff based in Taiwan to work as content editors for the planned HTC application store, which will also have e-books and magazines.
HTC is a company that's expanding on a daily basis and it is only natural that it is trying to increase its appeal. The Taiwan-based manufacturer has gone a long way since the days when it was creating devices for the bigger companies. It has managed to make a name for itself with its reliable and stellar looking handsets and with the aid of Android, HTC has managed to be among the top smartphone manufacturers. It's now a major player for the new Windows Phone 7 OS and the future looks bright for the company. Furthermore, HTC has its Sense UI interface that's quite well received by the general public and we guess it's only up to the company to build on that. After all, HTC's moto is "Quietly Brilliant" and we wouldn't be particularly surprised if HTC quietly manages to deliver again.
