Galaxy Nexus specs, image and release date breaks cover early in Japan: it's almost everything you expected the Nexus Prime to be

Ladies and gents, the Galaxy Nexus is here! Kind of. Just mere hours before the official announcement, a flyer for the Android Ice Cream Sandwich handset, previously referred to as the Nexus Prime, surfaced over in Japan for local carrier NTT DoCoMo.

The biggest news about it? Almost everything you heard about it was true – it is indeed coming with a humongous 4.65-inch display with an incredulous resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and it is indeed powered by a fourth-gen TI OMAP 4460 chip with a dual-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz. It's also pretty thin at just .35 inches, but at its thickest point that goes to .45 inches.

Sadly, the flyer confirms only a 5-megapixel camera supporting 1080p video recording, but hopefully Samsung has done some work on the image quality and we'd be gladly willing to overlook the sheer pixel count as it's not the most important factor in a camera. There's also a 1.3-megapixel camera listed, good for video conferencing.

In Japan, this will be marketed under the NEXT series and NTT DoCoMo confirmed that it will be available next month.

Regrettably, it's only listed with 14.4Mbps HSDPA for connectivity, and we see no mention of LTE. The rest of the connectivity package is pretty standard including Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth and GPS.

With all that in mind, though, we should note, that it's possible for the handset to launch with a slightly different spec sheet for the States. Here's to hoping for LTE and more megapixels in the camera.
