The Xiaomi Mi 4i, a lower spec'd version of the Xiaomi Mi 4, is going to be offered in India via an open sale from Flipkart. The phone will be available for purchase May 25th and May 26th, priced at the equivalent of $205 USD. Since the handset will be the subject of an open sale, no registrations or invitations are required.
The Xiaomi Mi 4i features a 5-inch, 1080 x 1440 resolution screen protected by Gorilla Glass 3. That works out to a pixel density of 441ppi. A 64-bit Snapdragon 615 chipset is under the hood, and includes an octa-core 1.7GHz CPU and the Adreno 405 GPU. 2GB of RAM is inside with 16GB of non-expandable memory. Bank and front-facing cameras weigh in at 13MP and 5MP, respectively. A 3120mAh battery keeps the lights on, and Android 5.0 is pre-installed with MIUI 6 running on top.
The Mi 4i is the first handset launched by the manufacturer outside of China and in fact, the unit is designed for Indian smartphone users. Hence, the lower case "i" used in the name of this phone. India has become an increasingly important market for Xiaomi. By the way, the model did start to receive an 804MB update on Friday to fix an overheating issue that was affecting the device.
