First camera samples from Xiaomi's MiPad tablet crop up
After many months of mysterious sightings and ceaseless rumors, Chinese Xiaomi, which just announced that it sold some 26 million smartphones in the first half of 2014, finally announced the pending release of its first tablet -- the MiPad.
There's a lot to like about the MiPad. For starters, much alike any other Xiaomi product, it's hardly rivaled by any other device currently available in terms of the hardware-to-price ratio it offers. The cheapest version commands a price tag the equivalent of $240, which is made all the more attractive by its specs sheet. The slate sports a quad-core Nvidia K1 chipset, 2GB of RAM, a crisp, 7.9-inch (2048 x 1536) Sharp display, a 6700 mAh battery from LG, and the impressive (for a tablet) 8- and 5-megapixel shooters at the rear and front, respectively. In fact, thanks to Chinese CNMO, we now have access to the first batch of camera samples courtesy of the MiPad's two snappers.
We're not in the habit of giving verdicts on camera samples other than our own, but we're liking what we're seeing, specifically when you consider that tablet cameras are only as of late becoming an area of undergoing improvements. Take a look for yourself!
