Did you know that LG once launched a phone with 2.1 stereo speakers?
Phones with stereo speakers are anything but new. When it comes to stereophonic audio, HTC's recent smartphones are the first to come to mind, but we've actually had phones with stereo speakers since the distant 2004. The peculiar specimen we're about to highlight, however, goes beyond the scope of stereo sound. The device in question is the LG GM200, also known as the LG Brio.
Released in 2009, the LG Brio was promoted as a phone made for music and radio listening. Its top feature was, wait for it, its 2.1 speaker setup. Yes, the Brio had a total of three loudspeakers – a pair of speakers delivering stereo sound and a larger woofer speaker that reproduced some of the lower frequency tones. It couldn't shake the room, of course, but with its trio of speakers, LG's phone was surely one of the loudest at the time.
Speakers and radio features aside, the LG Brio was a pretty ordinary phone. It has a 2-inch color LCD display, Bluetooth connectivity, and a 2MP camera. The microSD card slot could hold up to 2 additional gigabytes of data, which translates to about 500 songs.

Another stand-out feature of the LG Brio was its built-in radio antenna. It allowed the user to listen to the radio without having to plug in earphones. On a related note, even modern-day smartphones can't circumvent this requirement as it is the earphone wire serving as an antenna.
