Both versions of OnePlus One are sold out on the OnePlus website; sequel to be unveiled soon?
If you're planning on ordering a OnePlus One today from the OnePlus website, go back to bed. Both the Silk White 16GB version and the Sandstone Black 64GB model are sold out. This could be an indication that OnePlus is about to officially introduce the OnePlus 2 into the world. We've already seen an engineer test version of the phone which really showed us no details at all. OnePlus, of course, wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
The OnePlus 2 is expected to be unveiled next quarter, which begins July 1st and ends on September 30th. That covers quite a few days. But the inability to purchase the OnePlus One from the OnePlus site would seem to be a big clue that the sequel is coming sooner than later.
As we told you the other day, the OnePlus 2 will have specs typically associated with a high-end 2015 Android smartphone. That means it will be driven by the 64-bit Snapdragon 810 SoC, which includes an octa-core 1.8GHz CPU and the Adreno 430 GPU. 3GB of RAM is expected inside and we could see a back/front camera combo of 13MP/5MP.
Speaking of the Qualcomm produced chip, the Snapdragon 810 costs 60% more than the Snapdragon 801 chipset found in the OnePlus One. That means the sequels should be priced higher than the original models. The 16GB OnePlus One had a $299 launch price while the 64GB unit came to market at $349.
Thanks for the tip!

If you're worried about the Snapdragon 810 chipset turning up the heat, the rumor mill has OnePlus turning down the heat by lowering the CPU's clock speed to 1.8GHz. As a comparison, the Sony Xperia Z3+, which has the Snapdragon 810 SoC under the hood, has experienced overheating issues with the CPU running at 2GHz.
