Apple selling 750,000 iPads a day, could sell 12 million in March
The new iPad has quickly grown to become the best selling tablet in the industry with 3 million units sold just over the opening weekend. For the three days of initial availability, that comes to around 1 million iPads sold each day. While it’s clear that the first couple of days would come with huge sales, it seems that after that the iPad is continuing with its stable sales track record.
“Apple has sold ~750,000 new iPads per day since launch on Friday,” UBS analyst Maynard Um said. “If there are no supply shortages, this would imply a run rate of ~12 million new iPads between launch and the end of the quarter. We continue to believe there could be upside to our 12 million estimate for the quarter.”
It’s worth mentioning that Um is only speaking about sales of the new third-generation iPad.
And Apple seems to be working well to meet the huge demand as shipping times bounced back to 1-2 weeks after plunging down to 2-3 weeks in the first couple of days.
Apple is relying on the best screen among tablets - a 9.7-inch 2048x1536-pixel display, and also on improved graphics and better, 5-megapixel camera to lure customers into buying its newest tablet creation.
