Android 5.1 Lollipop update for Huawei Ascend P7 enters beta testing, should be launched soon
Owners of the Huawei Ascend P7 probably already know that their handset will be updated to Android Lollipop, since Huawei not long ago confirmed this. However, the company didn't say exactly when the update would be released. Fortunately, it looks like the update is almost ready to reach end users, as Huawei started beta testing Lollipop on the P7 in Spain and Italy.
Currently running Android 4.4 KitKat, the Ascend P7 will be updated directly to Android 5.1 Lollipop, skipping the 5.0 version. The update will also bring the new EMUI 3.1 to the P7.
Now eclipsed by the newer and more powerful Huawei P8, the Ascend P7 can be bought for around $300 unlocked. The P7 is a 6.5mm-thin smartphone with pretty attractive features, including: a 5-inch 1080p display, a quad-core HiSilicon Kirin 910T processor, 13 MP rear camera, 8 MP front-facing camera, 2 GB of RAM, and 16 GB of expandable storage space. Besides the Ascend P7, other Huawei handsets that will be updated to Android Lollipop (hopefully in the near future) include the Ascend Mate 2, Ascend Mate7, and Ascend G7.
