Analysts: Sony sold 4.6 million units of the Sony Xperia Z in 40 days
How many top-shelf devices are really available right now? Well, you have the HTC One, but only in a few locations. In three days, the device launches in the U.S. for Sprint and AT&T. The Samsung Galaxy S4 won't launch for another couple of weeks. But if you want an OEM flagship out now with a 5 inch FHD display, you would probably turn to the Sony Xperia Z. Analysts believe that the Japanese manufacturer has sold 4.6 million units of the device in just 40 days.

What has helped push demand for the Sony Xperia Z is the decision made by Sony to start pushing this device early in the year. By the time CES came around, the Sony Xperia Z was the talk of Las Vegas with its water and dust proofing. The rear-facing camera uses the Exmor RS sensor and the device has a high quality look thanks to the decision to use glass in the build. The phone is available in white, black and purple and has been out in the marketplace since March.

Eventually, the Sony Xperia Z will run into the competition from the other high-end models. But at least for the last 40 days, it had most of the market to itself and performed admirably.
