With less than a week having passed since Xiaomi's Redmi Pro (a.k.a. the Redmi Note 4) was officially unveiled in China, a new alleged leak suggests that the popular Chinese manufacturer is planning to launch a more compact version of the handset called the Xiaomi Redmi Pro Mini.

This info comes courtesy of Chinese leakster Kjuma, who took to microblogging website Weibo to share the Xiaomi Redmi Pro Mini specs and a sketch of the phone. Note that we reserve a healthy dose of skepticism regarding the accuracy of this info.

According to the Chinese leakster, the Xiaomi Redmi Pro Mini will come with a 5.2-inch display, down from the 5.5-inch panel of the standard Redmi Pro. However, it is said that the display will still be OLED and will still run at 1920 by 1080 pixels, matching the Redmi Pro display specs.

Under the hood, the Remi Pro Mini is said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 chipset. The Snapdragon 652 SoC comes with an octa-core CPU, four high-speed ARM Cortex-A72 cores paired with four power-efficient ARM Cortex-A53 cores, and has made its way inside multiple upper mid-range handsets such as the LG G5 SE, the Samsung Galaxy A9, and the Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra

As a reminder, the Xiaomi Redmi Pro is equipped with a MediaTek's Helio X25 SoC that includes a tri-cluster deca-core CPU with two Cortex-A72 cores running at 2.1GHz, four Cortex-A53 cores running at 1.85GHz, and four additional Cortex-A53 cores running at 1.4GHz.

In the memory department, the Mini version of the Redmi Pro is said to come with either 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, 4GB of RAM plus 32GB of storage, or 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

According to this rumor, the alleged Xiaomi Redmi Pro Mini will ditch the dual-camera setup found on the back of its larger sibling in favor of a more traditional single-sensor, single-lens primary camera.

Other rumored specs include a 4,000mAh battery with 9V/2A fast charging, a fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button, as well as a '2.5D' display glass cover.

The Xiaomi Redmi Pro Mini is said to be priced starting at CNY 1,499 (about $225) for the 3GB/32GB model. The full-blown version with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is expected to cost CNY 1,899 (about $285).

What do you guys think of this rumor? Would anyone be interested in Mini version of the Xiaomi Redmi Pro?
