Acer to launch the Liquid Jade Primo – a Windows 10 flagship!

Seeing as Windows isn't the most popular mobile operating system out there, you'd be forgiven if you didn't expect to see another flagship smartphone running Windows 10, aside from the Microsoft-made Lumia 950 / 950 XL, any time soon. So, the smartphone that Acer just announced may come as a bit of a surprise, but it's a sleek-looking and promising surprise, we have to say!

Acer just took the stage at CES to unveil its newest member of the Liquid Jade lineup – the Liquid Jade Primo. It's the company's Windows 10-toting flagship, and it packs the hardware to prove it – a Snapdragon 808 SoC, with 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal memory, a 5.5-inch FHD (1080x1920) AMOLED display, USB Type C, a 21 MP main camera with a dual (not dual-tone) LED flash, and a wide-angle 8 MP selfie snapper.

Hardware-wise, the phone is pretty close to Microsoft's own Lumia 950, save for not having a QHD (1440x2560) display, and is toting a larger, phablet-level screen size. Thanks to its powerful specs, the Liquid Jade Primo also supports one of Windows 10's most exciting features – Continuum. Grab a Display Dock and connect a keyboard, a mouse, and an external monitor to your phone and you get PC-like experience with Windows 10's universal apps. Makes working on spreadsheets when jumping from one's home and office that much easier.

In terms of design, the phone continues the tradition of sleek looks that we've come to know the Liquid Jade series for. It's back is nicely curved for ergonomics and covered in a brushed finish, while the front is protected by a slab of Gorilla Glass, arched smoothly into the phone's corners. It will certainly catch the eye of those looking for some bling on a smartphone.

The Acer Liquid Jade Primo looks like a promising device for Windows 10 enthusiasts. Price and availability in the US are marked as “to be disclosed”, but in EMEA, the smartphone will launch in February, with prices starting from $620 (€569).
