Acer W4 with Windows Phone Mango announced at Computex
The Acer W4 might not be able to compete with the cutting-edge smartphones of today, but nevertheless it’s been a mere week after Microsoft announced the partnership with the company and announcing a handset with Mango that soon is impressive. The Acer W4 falls well in line with what we’ve seen so far in the Windows Phone world: a Qualcomm MSM8255 chip clocked at 1GHz runs the platform on a 3.6-inch WVGA capacitive screen with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels.
The W4 comes with quad-band GSM radio and support for HSPA 850/1900 or 900/2100, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 in terms of connectivity. Photo-inclined folks are treated with a 5-megapixel auto-focus camera, which can store images on the 8 gigs of included storage. Designwise, we’re looking at some curves coming from the Acer Liquid series on this prototype of the Acer W4, while on the back a glossy blueish plastic brings the final touch. Hopefully, Acer will manage to give this handset an affordable price tag rounding up the package, but while we wait for more official information, feel free to share your opinion about the W4 in the comments below.
