Acer Russia confirms June 4th introduction of the Acer Iconia W3 8.1 inch Windows 8 tablet
Last week, we told you about the Acer W3-810, which was spotted briefly on Amazon's web site before being removed. This is a Windows 8 tablet with the smallest screen to date on such a device, 8.1 inches. While Amazon did remove the posting as though it never existed, it seems that the tablet will be introduced on June 4th. This is the word from Denis Kutnikov, general director of Acer's Russian office.
Thanks to the size of the screen, the slate is expected to be relatively more affordable than other Windows 8 tablets, and should compete with the 7.9 inch Apple iPad mini and low priced 7 inch Android tablets led by the Amazon Kindle Fire. The Acer Iconia W3, as the tablet is expected to be named, offers an 8.1 inch display with resolution of 1280 x 800. Under the hood is a dual-core 1.8GHz Intel Atom Z2760 processor with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage. A microSDslot will allow for the expansion of storage. Both front and back cameras weigh in at 2MP and the battery provides for 8 hours of use.

Acer will be offering some accessories including a physical QWERTY keyboard that can dock to the slab, and a case that can double as a stand. The price of the tablet is expected to remain at the $379.99 seen on the pulled Amazon listing.
