ASUS teases new ZenFone and ZenWatch for October 28 "Unlock the future" event
After spending the heated September out of the IFA 2014 and Apple spotlight, it looks like ASUS is up to something. The renowned Taiwanese manufacturer of things with computers in them has revealed an event invitation for October 28, which will happen under the moniker "Unlock the future".
Judging by the two teaser images, ASUS isn't referring to smart key locks, but rather to new ZenPhone and ZenWatch products. The first image depicts the bottom of a phone with a metallic finish and striking red band, while the second image shows a square-shaped smart-watch with an imposing metallic contour. Both images have the 2014.10.28 date on them. Props to ASUS for giving everyone an actual, and stylish clue about its upcoming products.
Although ASUS went low-key in September, it didn't miss the opportunity to take a jab at the month's biggest smartphone announcement. According to the company, customers can buy six ZenPhones for the price of one iPhone 6 with a 4.7-inch screen. "Six ZenFones for the whole family, or one apple for yourself?" - it asked. This is made possible by the product's low price point. The lowliest ZenFone has a 4-inch display and starts at a little over $100 unlocked, while the beefiest model comfortably spars with the iPhone 6 thanks to a 5-inch 720p display, dual-core Intel Atom processor, 2GB of RAM, and 8MP rear camera.
Hopefully, ASUS will bring its affordable smartphone to markets outside Asia.
