A mystery Xiaomi device takes a seat on Geekbench, upper-class midranger with unknown properties
A secret Xiaomi device has made its way on to Geekbench. Code-named "Libra", it appears it will be a high-midrange smartphone, sporting the potent hexacore Snapdragon 808 SoC, paired with 2 GB of RAM.
It seems that Xiaomi will not be shy to release a wide variety of devices this year. The company started 2015 by unveiling the top-shelf Mi Note and Mi Note Pro, the Redmi 2, and later – the Mi 4i, which is directed towards the eastern markets. We are still expecting announcements for a flagship Mi 5, a midrange Redmi Note 2 phablet, and, apparently, yet another mystery device.
Earlier this month, we saw a leak of a dual camera smartphone bearing the Mi moniker. Back then, we speculated that this may be a Mi 5 prototype, but now, we wonder whether it is actually the “Libra” that was in the picture.
With Xiaomi's ambitions to expand and become an internationally recognized brand, it only makes sense that the company will start widening its portfolio. Now, how many phones is “too many” is a pretty thin line, a constantly moving one at that, and only time will tell whether Xiaomi knows where to stop.
