Really Good, but not great..

8 Jun 2008 by FerneyZan

8 out of 10

My wife have had this phone for over 6 months already and other then network issues, this phone has shown to be more then expected. Not something I would ever consider for my self, but for sure something that my wife could count in getting things done when they counted the most.

DESIGN – In comparison to PALM, it seemed to be OK, but could get very confusing at times. Not very user friendly.

FEATURES – Plenty of everything on the phone, but no camera or 3G.

SOUND QUALITY – Sound quality was good as long as you were near good signal. No complaints at all.

RECEPTION – This part was carrier dependent. The phone seemed to performed very well in that department, not as good as our ATT phones, but heck, what can we ask for since this is a work provided phone.

VALUE FOR MONEY – FREE for my wife to use, but even if we had to pay for it, I would had asked my money back to get me a PALM or WM phone instead.

Best Smart Phone Yet

5 Aug 2006 by J

9.2 out of 10

I've owned the Treo 650, Treo 700w, Verizon VX8700, and a bunch of other misc "smart phones." I had pretty much given up on the idea of combining the functionality of a good PDA with a good cell phone until now. The Blackberry 8700c is what I've been looking for this whole time. It's not the greatest when it comes to bells and whistles: no camera, no memory expansion, no wifi, etc. But what it does have works great! The phone functionality is excellent. The interface is wonderful (once you figure out the Blackberry way of doing things). The screen is crisp, and very readable in the sun. The email client is the best I've used so far. The browser is good enough. The calendar and task manager are great. The software for syncing with your PC was a billion times less hassel than Microsoft's Active sync. Also, Google Talk and Google maps are awesome on the Blackberry. Additionally, the Bluetooth functionality is the most intuitive I've used so far.

For what it lacks in bells in whistles, it makes up for in solid functional features. This is the first smart phone that I think I'll keep around more than four months.
